Mission-Vision Statement of the Marist Community in Ranong.

Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam

Et Dei Genetricis Honorem

The heart of the Marist community is our prayer life, both personal and communal.

We gather daily for a sustained period of prayer together. Personally each member of the community is committed to a life of prayer and reflection.

This prayer life nourishes our faith which expresses itself in the Marist tradition and bears fruit in our Marist Mission here in Ranong.

Like Mary, we are open to the promptings of the Spirit and try to be generous and flexible in our response to God’s call.

Like Mary, we listen attentively to the needs of diverse people, offering an hospitable heart and home to all. We have our own life lived in community as brothers but which is welcoming to all who pass by.

Like Mary, we have a special attentiveness to the needs of the poorest people who, in Ranong, are often from Burma.

As missionaries in Asia we value our encounter with different people, religions and cultures and we try to enter into dialogue with all whom we meet.

We make every effort to work for peace, justice and reconciliation in areas of conflict and division. This effort also manifests itself in our own style of leadership which is always consultative and respectful of the opinions of all.

We pray and work for the “Peace of Christ” to come to Ranong, a peace and reconciliation that is the gift of Jesus Risen from the dead and a sign of the Kingdom of God.
